Decentral Games (DG) Secures $1 Million in $MANA from Decentraland DAO

Decentral Games (DG) has successfully received  $1 million worth of $MANA from the Decentraland DAO. The funds will be used to provide rewards for the ICE-USDC liquidity pool on QuickSwap. $MANA rewards will be distributed over three months to those that stake USDC-ICE LP.

Decentraland Grants DG $1 Million in $MANA

Decentral Games, the play-and-earn gaming platform that claims to account for roughly 60 percent of all the traffic in the Decentraland metaverse, has received a $1 million $MANA grant from the Decentraland DAO to help support DG’s $ICE token while the team prepares to launch its much-anticipated sit-and-go tournament mode.

The proposal sparked heated debates within both communities and managed to secure the approval of the Decentraland DAO by a tiny margin. The $1 million $MANA grant to Decentral Games is one of the largest ecosystem grants that Decentraland has ever awarded.

For those who are unaware, Decentral Games’ ICE Poker is the first metaverse-native poker game. ICE Poker is a free play-and-earn poker game designed to offer players economic freedom through self-custody and delegation of wearables.

In addition to ICE Poker, Decentral Games venues in the Decentraland metaverse are hotspots for daily virtual events such as live music, NFT drop parties, comedy shows, artist showcases, and many more.

Matthew Howells-Barby, CMO at Decentral Games said:

“The passing of this proposal shows the support we have from the Decentraland community and how important Decentral Games has become as a major contributor to daily active users. These incentives will enable us to create further stability in our ecosystem ahead of rolling out our new sit-and-go poker tournament mode that we believe will bring a whole new experience to our Decentraland venues and will help us to onboard thousands of new users to the nascent metaverse.”

The DG Stats Today

DG says it has witnessed significant growth since launching ICE Poker in 2021, onboarding thousands of people into the Decentraland metaverse.

Not resting on its oars, Decentral Games is growing its ecosystem further by launching competitive tournaments and metaverse adverts in its venues.

DG has hinted that its sit-and-go tournaments will go live in July 2022, and the team expects the tournament to increase its product stickiness, while also improving its scaling to onboard the next larger wave of users into Decentraland.

At the time of writing, Decentral Games boasts:

  • 12 live Decentraland venues
  • 1,007 parcels of Decentraland LAND
  • 8,000+ daily active players
  • 40,000+ weekly visitors across all venues

Miles Anthony, CEO at Decentral Games said:

“We’ve had conviction around Decentraland and its role in delivering an interactive 3D frontend for the open metaverse from its inception in 2017. Since then, we’ve purchased more than 1,000 parcels of LAND and invested millions of dollars to build engaging content to attract and retain over 60 percent of the platform’s users.”

“This MANA allocation is a stepping stone to assist in boosting our in-game economy as we prepare to launch ICE Poker Sit-n-Go tournaments, along with other key initiatives that drive organic demand and utility for ICE and solidify our ecosystem’s long term sustainability. With the support of the Decentraland team and community, we look forward to onboarding the next million users into Decentraland and the nascent metaverse,” he added.
