Fleek Network releases new whitepaper for decentralized edge platform

Fleek Network has released a new whitepaper describing its upcoming decentralized edge platform.
A new open-source GitHub repository for the protocol has been launched alongside its release, marking a major milestone towards launching a testnet for the decentralized edge network next month.

The whitepaper has evolved from its original focus on a decentralized CDN to introduce a new protocol architecture and design that enables a full-edge network.
This protocol can support a broader range of decentralized edge services, including serverless, container orchestration, and database functions.
Fleek Network recognized the trend of the modern web migrating from the cloud to the edge and aims to provide a shared performance layer that all web3 protocols can leverage.
The network’s protocol-agnostic and modular architecture can add value to virtually any web3 protocol, service, and app.
Nodes across the network perform work solely based on geography and performance-based reputation scores.
The network features stateless execution, a VM-less core, content addressing, and several other performance optimizations that contribute to the network’s overall performance and low latency and the edge services built on top of it.
Harrison Hines, CEO and co-founder of Fleek Network said:
“Similar to the modern web’s evolution, web3 is quickly moving towards a modular and composable future. Introducing a highly-performant decentralized edge network into the web3 stack as a shared performance layer could help close the gap between web2 and web3 performance and provide a significant building block for developers on the road to mass adoption.”
Parsa Ghadimi, the lead researcher at Fleek Network, added:
“Fleek Network’s architecture replicates the theory the edge brought to web2 to a blockchain architecture: executing services close to users, intelligently scaling up and down, only using resources when and where required. It’s a unique setup in web3 today, geared specifically towards web-service performance and cost requirements.”
Fleek Network’s edge platform offers microservices with a performance layer that is decentralized, cost-effective and aligns with web3 values.
Currently, web3 protocols depend on web2 performance layers to meet latency expectations. However, Fleek’s platform can provide the necessary performance without central points of failure.
The launch of a testnet for the decentralized edge network is scheduled for August following the release of the new whitepaper and GitHub repo.
About Fleek Network
Fleek Network is a platform for developers to create and run high-performing web services.
The network’s edge nodes allow for the creation of secure and economically sound infrastructure.
Fleek aims to provide a platform for web3 protocols, middleware, services, and apps to further decentralize their stack without affecting cost, performance, complexity, or user experience.
In October 2022, Fleek raised a $25 million Series A led by Polychain Capital.
