Moonray to expand its ecosystem into mobile gaming

7 November 2024 – Moonray, the Ethereum-based multiplayer science-fantasy combat arena game backed by Animoca Brands and other prominent web3 companies, today announced that it is expanding its ecosystem into mobile games. Moonray revealed it is working on a mobile expansion to its original PC game, which was launched on the Epic Games Store in July and is available in Early Access. Moonray previously secured a strategic seed investment from Animoca Brands, Polygon Ventures, Cardano, and other investors.
Set in a distant “post-human” future, Moonray is a game that provides immersive gameplay and intense combat experiences. Moonray’s competitive gameplay is easy to pick up and hard to master, appealing to both casual players and esports professionals.
The game was released on the Epic Games Store earlier this year in order to maintain an easy onboarding and purchasing experience familiar to the broader online gaming community. The web3 elements of Moonray (such as connecting wallets and purchasing tokens) are available to those who wish to use them but hidden to those who don’t.
Apart from its Early Access launch for PC, Moonray has also released a graphic novel titled ‘Mother’s Skin’ that is available in 4,000 comic and book stores in North America and the UK including Midtown Comics and Barnes & Noble. Additionally, Moonray has established a partnership with Reel FX to bring the game and comic book to the screen in an animated series.
Backed by Animoca Brands and other prominent investors, the futuristic multiplayer battle game currently available in Early Access for PC will expand to mobile.
Moonray Studios launched in 2021 and has formed strategic partnerships with Digital Void for game development, Reel FX for streaming content, and gaming guilds like YGG, Snack Club, and Unix for user acquisition.
Animoca Brands led Moonray’s US$3.5 million seed round in 2021 and helped Moonray to solidify its presence in the Web3 ecosystem. Animoca Brands is a global leader in gamification and blockchain with a large portfolio of over 540 investments in web3 and the mission is to advance digital property rights and decentralized projects to help build the open metaverse.
