Axie Infinity Community Alpha Seeks user Feedback and Introduces new Gameplay Features
Axie Infinity, a decentralized game based on the Ethereum blockchain, just launched an early Unity-based version of its game available only for those who own at least three Axies. This move highlights how the team behind Axie Infinity is looking to gain feedback from its users before launching into the mainstream market. This according to an official blog post by the Axie Infinity team on December 19, 2019.
Blockchain Gaming in Real-Time
Initially launched in March 2018, Axie Infinity has tried to differentiate itself from other blockchain games by giving focus to gameplay over technological novelty, making it a particularly unique entry in the land of decentralized applications (dApps). With the launch of a Unity-based version of the game, the Axie team is bringing a plethora of new features that may capture the attention of the mainstream. For the uninitiated, the Unity engine is one of the most popular third-party game development software amongst developers worldwide used to create three-dimensional, two-dimensional, virtual reality, and augmented reality games.
This version will be available only to the most loyal users of the platform who have at least three Axies and the Axie team wants to give its userbase a taste of the latest progress, all the while gathering crucial feedback.
As per the blog post, the expected duration for the alpha will be 6 months; furthermore, the team will also be working on a viral referral mechanism, seamless wallet on-boarding, and non-tokenized Axies for new users.
Amongst the new features introduced, real-time Axie card battles will replace the present idle-battle system. The new system intends to create a more interactive experience where players can show off their skills in real-time.
Finally, the game introduced the possibility of fighting the Axies against the Chimeras through the new adventure mode. This is the first step towards bringing land gameplay in the Axie universe and offers a glimpse into the future expansion of Axie Infinity and it’s gameplay features.
Axie Racing Game
One of the advantages of the games developed on Blockchain is that of interoperability. Axie Infinity has in fact recently partnered with The Sandbox, an upcoming user-generated game platform to launch an Axie-themed racing game.
The announcement made on December 17 is rather vague but  The Sandbox team notes the game will be created using voxel art and should be available in the next few months.
