DigiByte Secure Authentication Technology Takes First Step to Global Adoption
According to a tweet on October 30, DigiByte-powered (DGB) online security solution Open(AntumID) Connect was linked to AntumID by AntumID and SoftTech.
A Big Step for DigiByte Secure Authentication Technology
In what comes as a major development pertaining to real-world adoption of the DigiByte blockchain network, recently, identity layer solution OpenID Connect was officially linked to AntumID. The integration makes it possible to use the solution on any website now.
Notably, the official tweet adds that the project’s first proofs-of-concept went well too. Soon, it would be possible to replace login with Facebook or Google with OpenAntumID.
Commenting on the development, Rudy Bouwman, Secretary, and Vice-Chairman, DigiByte Foundation, tweeted:
A first step to real global adoption of #DigiByte secure authentication technology.

What Is OpenID Connect?
For the uninitiated, OpenID Connect is essentially a simple identity layer built on top of the OAuth 2.0 protocol that is used in the single sign-on and identity provision on the Internet.
It enables Clients to verify the identity of the End-User based on the authentication performed by an Authorization Server. Further, it can also help the Client to obtain basic profile information about the End-User in an interoperable and REST-like manner.
“OpenID Connect allows clients of all types, including Web-based, mobile, and JavaScript clients, to request and receive information about authenticated sessions and end-users. The specification suite is extensible, allowing participants to use optional features such as encryption of identity data, discovery of OpenID Providers, and session management, when it makes sense for them.”
OpenID’s appeal lies in its extreme simplicity in protecting user identities on the Web. The solution is simple enough to integrate with basic apps and at the same time, is complex enough in its design, features, and security options that it can match the demanding enterprise requirements.
A major reason for OpenID’s resounding success is that it provides a complete standardization setup without any additional worries. As the solution is built on top of the OAuth 2.0 protocol, it is API ready. In addition, OAuth adds extra information so that the client knows who logged in, how strongly, and other similar specifics.
A blog post on OpenID Connect reads in part:
“OpenID Connect never defines how authentication is done but it provides a standardized law on how to ask for it, and how the result of authentication should be displayed for the client.”
Adding,
“The response -request format of the OpenID connect is in JSON which is human-readable as well as it works really well for the data-interchange operations.”
Notably, the technical architecture of OpenID is developed in such a way that it equally supports mobile applications, JavaScript Clients, as well as web applications.
By leveraging the decentralized, high-performance DigiByte blockchain network, OpenID ensures the security of the whole Internet.
In related news, BTCManager reported in July that the infamous Twitter hack that saw the accounts of influential personnel, including Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Elon Musk, among several others, could have been prevented via MyDigiPassword – the world’s first blockchain-powered password generator and manager developed by DigiByte and AntumID.
