Crypto journalist Colin Wu said the spike in transaction volume coincided with the minting of the first inscription, dubbed NEAT.
On the same day, the platform recorded $173,000 in transaction fees.
NEAT, the first inscription standard introduced on the NEAR Protocol, allows inscription recording through function calls without relying on smart contracts.
This feature can enhance the security and trustlessness of inscriptions.
