IOTA (MIOTA) Releases Status Update for November
IOTA (MIOTA) has released details concerning the major achievements the project has made so far in November. IOTA says its researchers have made significant progress on the Pollen testnet implementation, sharding, networking refinements, and more, according to a blog post on November 5, 2020.
A Steady March Towards IOTA 2.0
Top blockchain projects are constantly on the lookout for ways to improve their platforms in a bid to have a competitive edge over their peers. IOTA (MIOTA) is not left out, as its team of researchers have been working hard towards taking the network to the next level via IOTA 2.0.
As stated in the team’s status update for November 2020, IOTA researchers made significant progress in various aspects of the network in the past month including on the Pollen testnet implementation and testing.
For the uninitiated, Pollen is the official testnet of the IOTA 2.0 distributed ledger and its primary objective is to lay a solid foundation that will enable IOTA to dump its coordinator and transition to a fully decentralized platform.
In the same vein, the team says it has also added new integration tests to mana, its key Sybil-protection system, to make it more robust, while also ensuring that the allowed pledge IDs on the network function in a frictionless manner.
The team says it has also developed a couple of research-focused tools, including a special dashboard that will make it easier for devs to better study the various dynamics of mana.
Other Significant Improvements
Notably, IOTA has hinted that its team of researchers working on the networking of its platform carried out extensive attack analysis to verify whether the congestion control mechanisms of the IOTA network is top-notch before it gets integrated into Pollen.
IOTA wrote:
“Attacks tested include, but are not limited to, (i) malicious nodes exceeding their allowed rate, (ii) sending different streams of messages to different nodes, or (iii) combined attacks from multiple nodes at the same time.”
That’s not all, the team says it’s also researching the concept of sharding and plans to create a layer-2 scaling solution dubbed “data sharding,” which will offer “very high throughput for data messages, applications and more.
In related news, on November 2, 2020, BTCManager informed that IOTA has joined forces with Amazon to make it possible for its users to run their private Tangle nodes right from the Amazon Web Service.
At press time, the price of IOTA (MIOTA) sits at $0.265115, a 14.47 percent increase in the last 24-hours, with a market capitalization of $737 million, as seen on CoinMarketCap.
