ONFO coin CEO found dead in United States

The co-founder of ONFO coin, a referral-based cryptocurrency project, Dr. John Forsyth, was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound, about a week after his disappearance.

Police reportedly informed the family of his passing away on late May 30. Despite the circumstances, authorities do not currently suspect foul play.

Dr. Forsyth, also an emergency room doctor at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, Missouri, was reported missing on May 21, when he did not report for his hospital shift. It raised immediate concern among his family and colleagues, as he never missed work.

His car was found parked less than a mile from the hospital, with his wallet, passport, laptop, and work briefcase inside. The discovery heightened worries, primarily as Dr. Forsyth was known to always have his cell phone with him.

Forsyth, who had previously been labeled a “Bitcoin millionaire” by Forbes, co-founded ONFO coin with his brother in 2020. The project allows users to earn coins by referring others to the platform, a strategy it refers to as “network mining.”

The sudden death of Forsyth follows the story of another crypto advocate, former Square technology chief and creator of Cash App, Bob Lee. He was fatally stabbed in April. The circumstances surrounding these deaths have stirred conversations in the crypto community.
