StandX to shut down perpetual futures exchange, cancels planned token launch
StandX, a decentralized perpetual futures exchange founded by former Binance Futures head Aaron Gong and other industry veterans, has announced plans to shut down its operations and cancel its planned token launch after serving more than 237,000 users.
- StandX will shut down its perpetual futures exchange and cancel its planned token launch following a review of its business and market conditions.
- The platform has served more than 237,000 users since November 2025, with its total value locked peaking above $200 million.
- Perpetual futures trading will enter reduce only mode on October 20, with all remaining positions scheduled for closure by January 15, 2027.
- StandX will distribute a one time DUSD airdrop to eligible users, with claims opening November 1 and closing December 31.
- Users have until January 31, 2027, to withdraw their assets and submit DUSD redemption requests.
According to the platform’s October 15 announcement, the decision followed a review of its business and market conditions, with perpetual futures trading set to enter reduce-only mode on October 20 and all remaining positions scheduled for closure by January 15, 2027.
StandX will distribute a one-time DUSD airdrop to eligible community members using the project’s remaining revenue and additional contributions from its team.
The exchange said its total value locked had peaked above $200 million since its mainnet launch in November 2025. During that period, it introduced yield-bearing trading margin and a rewards program for community market makers.
StandX sets January 2027 deadline for closing positions
StandX has outlined a phased shutdown that begins with the termination of all yield distributions on October 15.
DUSD yield, Position Yield, Community Maker Yield and referral commissions will stop, while new vault creation and deposits will no longer be accepted.
Normal trading will continue until October 20, when perpetual futures contracts, including Universal Markets, enter reduce-only mode. Traders will be permitted to reduce or close existing positions but will not be able to open new ones or add to their exposure.
New user registrations, DUSD minting, Block Trades and Block Options will close on the same date. Existing reserved Block Options can still be exercised until expiry, while deposits will remain available solely for margin top-ups.
By January 15, 2027, StandX will cancel outstanding orders and automatically close any remaining open positions at the prevailing mark price.
Vault settlements will take place on the same day. Shares held in the SLP Vault, Community Strategy Vault and Community Shield Vault will be returned to holders’ perpetual futures wallets based on final net asset values.
Unused Community Reward Vault budgets will be returned to their respective funders.
Users will have until January 31, 2027, to withdraw assets from their perpetual futures and cash wallets or submit DUSD redemption requests.
StandX said its existing seven-day redemption process would allow requests submitted by the deadline to be completed by February 7.
Although the withdrawal window will close at the end of January, any remaining balances will continue to belong to their wallet owners. Users seeking to recover funds afterward must contact the platform’s support team.
DUSD airdrop replaces planned token launch
StandX has decided against issuing its previously planned platform token and will instead distribute DUSD directly to eligible users without any lockup period.
The team acknowledged that the decision could disappoint community members who had spent time trading, providing liquidity and participating in the exchange’s rewards programs.
“We know this won’t meet everyone’s expectations,” the team said in its announcement.
According to StandX, most of the revenue generated during its operating history had already been distributed to users through its SIP-2 and SIP-3 programs.
The remaining revenue will fund the new airdrop, supplemented by contributions from the founding team. StandX did not disclose the total distribution amount or individual allocation figures.
An eligibility checker will become available on October 26 at 00:00 UTC, allowing users to review their allocations through the official airdrop page.
Claims will open on November 1 at 00:00 UTC and close on December 31 at 08:00 UTC. Any allocation left unclaimed after the deadline will be forfeited.
Eligible participants will be able to claim DUSD through their existing StandX wallet addresses on BNB Chain or Solana. Claimed tokens can be transferred, traded or redeemed immediately.
Allocation calculations will consider several categories of user activity, including pre-deposits, participation during the Alpha phase, mainnet trading, market making and referrals.
All allocations will undergo anti-Sybil and wash-trading checks. StandX has reserved the right to adjust or cancel rewards assigned to accounts flagged for abnormal activity.
Other decentralized exchanges have closed during 2026
StandX’s announcement follows several other closures involving decentralized trading platforms this year, although the projects have cited different reasons for ending operations.
In June, crypto.news reported that Satori Finance planned to close its perpetual futures exchange after concluding that its revenue could no longer support the business.
Satori had processed more than $134 billion in cumulative perpetual futures trading volume and raised $10 million from investors. Its June 16 announcement cited insufficient revenue and prolonged unfavorable market conditions, with operations scheduled to end on July 16.
Another decentralized exchange, Loopring closed its DEX and automated market maker in June after years of limited adoption and business difficulties. The Ethereum scaling project said competition from newer networks had contributed to its decision.
Loopring arranged to return remaining user balances directly to Ethereum wallets and cover the associated gas fees.
July brought the closure of Odos Protocol’s decentralized exchange aggregator, with users instructed to withdraw their assets before July 30.
The Odos team did not specify a reason for the shutdown. Its announcement clarified that the independently operated Odos DAO would communicate its plans separately, while the ODOS token would continue to exist onchain.
Activity has continued at other perpetual futures exchanges. In September, Hyperliquid introduced a preliminary HIP-3 upgrade allowing independent market operators to restrict participation through onchain allowlists.
The optional feature was made available on testnet, with deployers permitted to manage access themselves or appoint other operators to maintain approved wallet lists.
DUSD redemptions and liquidity withdrawals end in January
StandX has assured users that DUSD remains fully collateralized and that assets can be withdrawn in full during the shutdown process.
The team said the platform had recorded no fund security incidents throughout its operating history.
Under the withdrawal procedure, users must first transfer assets from their Perps Wallet to their Cash Wallet before withdrawing them to an onchain address.
Withdrawals will be received in DUSD. Holders seeking to convert the stablecoin into USDT must submit a redemption request through the official portal by January 31, 2027.
DUSD can alternatively be exchanged through PancakeSwap or Raydium, where StandX currently maintains liquidity.
The project intends to remove its own DUSD liquidity from both decentralized exchanges on January 31. Liquidity providers have been instructed to arrange their exits before that date.
StandX warned users against fraudulent airdrop links and unsolicited messages requesting wallet credentials or funds. The team said it would never ask users to provide private keys, seed phrases or payments to receive their allocations.
Official communications will remain available through the project’s website, documentation portal, verified X account and Discord community.
