Twitter influencer hints at Apple’s Metaverse headset launch date
The buzz around Apple’s entrance into the immersive virtual reality field has been amped up by a famous Twitter influencer Udi Wertheimer. There has been a lot of talk about how this release will change the metaverse forever.
Decentraland and Sandbox, two blockchain-based metaverse initiatives, saw a rise in the value of their native tokens at the beginning of the year as interest in the metaverse grew. Apple’s foray into hybrid realities is another factor fueling this movement.Â
On May 15, independent developer Udi Wertheimer turned to Twitter to bring attention to the effects of social media-driven meme currencies. He also implied that Apple’s imminent release would affect the pricing of metaverse tokens. The tweet ratcheted up the excitement for Apple’s rumored headgear.
eToro’s Josh Gilbert, a market analyst, recognized the potential effect Apple’s device might have on the markets because of the company’s history of releasing groundbreaking items. Gilbert questions whether removing the headgear alone will be a watershed moment for metaverse-related digital currencies. Remember that VR tokens are not the same as Metaverse tokens. Unlike Decentraland, which is actively developing its virtual reality capabilities, the Sandbox does not intend to include virtual reality technology.
Gilbert and other specialists in the field have pointed out that creating a truly immersive metaverse experience is a long-term objective. The success of metaverse tokens like MANA and Sandbox’s token depends on the rate at which the metaverse is adopted by the general public, just way it took time for iPhone applications to use the device’s capabilities after its first debut fully.
Despite massive expenditures in R&D, several organizations, notably Meta (Facebook), are still struggling to achieve widespread acceptance of immersive virtual worlds, despite tokens like MANA and SAND’s meteoric rise in value during the 2021 crypto bull run.
A rumor by Apple analyst Mark Gurhman claims that the tech giant will introduce its new headset on June 5. This is Apple’s first big product debut since the Apple Watch in 2015, so naturally, anticipation is high.
