WBS Dubai: crafting tomorrow’s digital landscape
The 26th global edition of the World Blockchain Summit in Dubai concluded successfully at the Address Dubai Marina on Nov. 1 and 2, 2023.
The event brought together industry experts, innovators, government stakeholders, and investors to discuss practical applications of next-gen blockchain solutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
With over 1,500 C-suite attendees, the event featured discussions and keynote speeches to accelerate the global adoption of transformative blockchain solutions.
Trescon’s CEO, Naveen Bharadwaj, opened the event. Charles Hoskinson, CEO and founder of Input Output Global (IOG) delivered a keynote address on Cardano’s evolution, particularly the introduction of smart contracts during the Shelley era.
A panel discussion on “CBDCs and Cross-Border Payments: A Deep Dive into Technical Aspects and Opportunities,” moderated by Cal Evans of Gresham International, explored the role of blockchain technology in facilitating cross-border transactions with Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).
Panelists, including Tone Vays, Kevin Soltani, and Matthias Mende, shared insights about the technical infrastructure required for CBDC-based cross-border payments.
During the event, it was announced that Cypher Capital and Master Ventures had invested in Common Wealth, a community-driven platform reshaping early-stage investing. This underscores the commitment to creating a level playing field for early-stage investors, fostering innovation and opportunity.
Sharing their experience at the event, Hasnae Taleb, CIO at Ento Capital, said she was “happy to be part of WBS not just as an investor with $4.7Bn AUM but as a woman in the world of finance and the land of opportunities, Dubai.”
Sharing his experience at the event, Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, remarked that “it was incredibly vibrant and diverse; I would come again.”
Alan Tominey, the director of technology and product at Gorki Network, added that “it was a high-quality delegate summit; we connected with numerous investors and generated valuable leads.”
Sharing a common vision and passion for blockchain innovation, WBS hosted the regional finale of the Startup World Cup by Pegasus Tech Ventures.
With innovators showcasing how their vision is transforming the global digital landscape. AYDO, a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure platform (DePIN) that bridges the gap between web2 and web3, won the regional finals, showcasing the boundless potential of blockchain innovations.
