Brave Browser to Verify Publishers Using Civic’s Blockchain-Powered Platform

Crytpo-fueled web browser Brave and the DLT-powered digital identity platform, Civic, have decided to work in unison to bring the latter’s KYC services to publishers on the BAT-funded web browser. Per a September 21, 2018, dated announcement during the Consumer Identity World in Seattle, verified publishers on the Brave platform will now have the option to use Civic’s KYC and identity verification services to earn the Basic Attention Token (BAT) via the web browser.

Brave Community Marches Forward

Amid the bearish mood of the world of crypto, the Brave community has not let itself be deterred by the pessimistic market sentiment. After having crossed ten million downloads on the Google PlayStore, the open source crypto-based web browser has added another feather to its cap by joining forces with the leading blockchain-identity platform.

The partnership entails that in the future, verified publishers on the Brave platform who give their Ethereum (ETH) wallet addresses to receive BAT tokens, will have access to Civic’s recently launched Reusable KYC campaign, dubbed “Civic Libre.” The campaign aims to benefit individuals and companies with legitimate businesses by offering them no cost identification services until the end of 2018.

Regarding the deal’s implications for Brave verified publishers, they will benefit from a hassle-free and private identity verification process through the Civil app. In addition to this, publishers will also have the option to be identified with their mobile devices each time they log in to the app to claim their tokens.

Service to Sustain Trust between Publishers and Users

Vinny Lingham, CEO and Co-founder of Civic, shared his thoughts regarding the collaboration with Brave, calling it a “revolutionary browser” that is tackling some of the biggest internet privacy challenges. He added that bringing Civic’s trusted ID verification services to the Brave platform will further strengthen the browser with the help of distributed ledger technology (DLT).

Sharing Lingham’s positive sentiments was Brendan Eich, CEO and Co-founder of Brave Software. He said:

“Brave and the Basic Attention Token aim to directly connect users and publishers in a transparent system to guarantee privacy and authenticity, without the intermediaries that harvest user data. Civic shares our values around privacy and protecting user information, and we’re excited to work with them to offer Civic Reusable KYC, which will be key to ensuring security and privacy on our publisher network.”

The Brave Network has added considerable achievements to its growing list of accomplishments in a short span of time.

BTCManager reported on June 2, 2017, about the record-breaking ICO launch of Brave, when it sold 1.5 billion tokens for roughly $36 million in just 24 seconds.
