China’s BSN Platform Set to Integrate DAML Smart Contract Language
Red Date Technology and Digital Asset, two of China’s Blockchain Service Network (BSN) founding members have announced that the DAML smart contract language is now the exclusive standard for decentralized applications (dApps) development on the BSN, according to reports on September 14, 2020.
BSN Integrates DAML
In a bid to make it easier for blockchain developers to create interoperable decentralized applications on the BSN platform without having to go through the stress of learning various smart contract languages, the team is integrating DAML as the platform’s sole smart contract language.
For those who are unaware, the Digital Asset Modelling Language (DAML) is an open-source programming language designed to support the development of full-stack smart contract-based distributed applications. DAML supports a vast array of enterprise blockchains.
Commenting on the latest development, Yifan He, CEO of Red Date reiterated that the integration of DAML will further make life easier for programmers on the BSN network by crushing existing interoperability barriers.
In his words:
“At present, each blockchain protocol has its own unique smart contract language. However, that makes it difficult for developers, as they need to learn different technologies to get started and must rewrite their codes from scratch if they want to deploy to a different blockchain. With DAML, our developers will gain the choice of using one unifying smart contract language seamlessly and interoperable across every blockchain.”
BSN Gaining Traction
Backed by the State Information Center of China (SIC), the BSN is the largest blockchain infrastructure project in the region. At present, a good number of blockchain networks, as well as enterprises including Tezos, Ethereum, Corda, Hyperledger, and more, have nodes on the network.
Since its official launch in April 2020, the BSN has attracted more than 6k users from China and across the globe. According to the creators of the network, the primary objective of the BSN is to become the “blockchain of the internet,” powering millions of permissioned and permissionless dApps.
As part of efforts to make dApps on the BSN network as interoperable as possible, the team says its currently developing the Interchain Communications Hub, which will provide numerous Interchain and oracle mechanisms.
The BSN wrote:
“A demo version will be launched before the end of 2020. It will include IRITA based Interchain service and Chainlink-based oracle service.”
