Cleveland Cavaliers BasketBall Club Joins the Crypto Bandwagon 

The Cleveland Cavaliers, an American professional basketball club established in 1970, and Cavs Legion GC, the NBA 2K League counterpart of the former, have inked a partnership deal with UnitedCoin, a cryptocurrency project. The partnership will enable UnitedCoin to become the official crypto partner of Cavs Legion, according to a press release on July 15, 2019.

Cleveland Cavaliers and Cavs Legion Get Crypto Partner 

As stated in its press release, the Cleveland Cavaliers and its esports counterpart, Cavs Legion GC, have partnered with UnitedCoin, a crypto and distributed ledger technology (DLT) project.

Per the team, the alliance is aimed at boosting public awareness about the UnitedCoin brand, while also providing Cleveland Cavaliers with a resource to reap the dividends of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

With the partnership deal, UnitedCoin will become the official cryptocurrency partner of the Cavs Legion and the brand will be visible on the team’s social media channels, as well as on the virtual home court during NBA 2k League games.

The team says there will also be LED signage inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, the official arena of the Cavs, during games. The partnership will reportedly provide UnitedCoin with other exciting branding opportunities throughout the upcoming 2019-20 season. 

Commenting on the partnership with UnitedCoin, Nic Barlage, Cavaliers president of business operations, said that a collaboration with an innovative cryptocurrency and DLT brand such as UnitedCoin would enable the Cavs to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-evolving world of technology.

He said:

“As decentralized technology continues to evolve, we believe it’s essential for us to stay ahead of the curve and plan for how it will impact our fan experience and business as we move forward.”

According to its website, UnitedCoin is registered under the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The platform rewards individuals for holding and spending cryptocurrencies when using their exclusive debit cards.
