Hackers steal 13 NFTs on Blur as global sales rise

Hackers have stolen 14 digital collectibles on the Blur marketplace, according to a series of tweets by PeckShield Alert.

Non-fungible token (NFT) sales started to drop in late March and have consolidated in the last two months. As the number and value of NFT trades began to rise in the past 24 hours, hackers attacked Blur.

A hacker called Fake_Phishing156212 stole the MetaHeroCore #24, Doodles #1501 and Doodles #1504. The attacker paid roughly $30 for the transaction fees of the NFTs on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain without paying anything for the collectibles.

Moreover, another attacker called PinkDrainer could get hold of five MiladyMakers for only 0.000000000000000005 ETH, worth almost nothing, according to on-chain data. However, the phisher needed to pay around $113 for the transaction fees.

According to another tweet by PeckShield, PinkDrainer has also stolen Doodle #6853, Bean #14446, 2 RENGAs and Otherdeed #54541.

PickDrainer then swapped the Otherdeed #54541, worth around $1,900, for an Otherside #65611, along with 0.478 ETH, worth roughly $890, on the Blur Pool.

The phishing attacks come as global NFT sales witness a 13.3% rise in the past 24 hours. According to data provided by CryptoSlam, the total NFT sales volume has surpassed $33 million while the number of consumers has dropped by 13%, falling to 69,436 unique buyers.
