IOTA and ClimateCHECK Partner for Climate Change
IOTA and ClimateCHECK are expanding their collaboration and have released DigitalMRVTM. It is a solution that streamlines Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) and uses the permissionless architecture of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) network for data streaming and safeguarding of confidential industrial data.
ClimateCHECK and IOTA are Partnering
In a press release on Dec 8, they will partner to create innovative solutions for climate change, promoting the use of clean technologies, and fostering an open ecosystem around sustainable Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) solutions.
Inherently, IOTA is a blockless network that’s infinitely scalable and more importantly energy-efficient.
Although it does rely on globally distributed miners, their energy requirements aren’t as demanding as those needed to run Bitcoin mining gear.
ClimateCHECK, on the other hand, is a leading international provider of climate and cleantech services and solutions. They have been involved in climate change initiatives since 1998, focusing on 2009 on integrating digital solutions into MRV.

Pilot Project in Chile was Successful
The IOTA and ClimateCHECK collaboration started with the deployment of the MRV in a pilot project funded by the Canadian government through Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) as part of the Reciclos Organicos project in Chile.
By working with ClimateCHECK experts, they sought to demonstrate how the IOTA ledger can be used to improve efficiency, lower the cost of MRV, by using the network as a single source of truth for all its sensors.
Its success would further help to illustrate the feasibility of distributed systems and specifically how public DLT networks can be used successfully for climate change as well as for the sustainable transformation of economic systems.
With the successful pilot program, IOTA now plans to increase the scope and roll out the solution to more plants and different industries in the next six months.
