NEAR price prediction: Can Gemini listing trigger a rebound?

NEAR Protocol has gained access to another major U.S. cryptocurrency exchange after Gemini listed its native token for trading, deposits and withdrawals, although NEAR’s price remains under pressure near $4.42 following its recent market correction.

Summary
  • Gemini has enabled NEAR trading, deposits and withdrawals for eligible customers.
  • NEAR trades around $4.42, down approximately 12% over the past month.
  • Analysts identify $4.60–$4.65 as resistance, with downside levels near $3.95 and $3.40.
  • CoinGlass data places NEAR derivatives open interest near $1.30 billion.

According to an October 26 announcement shared by NEAR Protocol, Gemini has enabled trading for the token alongside deposits and withdrawals. NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin welcomed the listing and praised his collaboration with Gemini’s Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss and Eric Kuhn.

The listing provides another trading venue for eligible U.S. customers, but the announcement has not translated into a sustained price recovery. NEAR has continued struggling below the $4.60–$4.65 resistance area, leaving traders divided over its next direction.

Gemini listing gives NEAR another route to U.S. investors

Gemini’s addition of NEAR comes as the blockchain continues developing its cross-chain transaction infrastructure and artificial intelligence services. Polosukhin described the collaboration positively, expressing enthusiasm about further work with the exchange’s leadership team.

The exchange has enabled customers to trade the native token and transfer holdings through supported deposit and withdrawal services. Availability remains subject to regional eligibility rules, and Gemini has not disclosed expected trading volumes or institutional allocations associated with the listing.

NEAR already gained another U.S. investment channel when Bitwise launched its NEAR ETF on September 29. The NRR fund began trading on NYSE Arca with a 0.75% management fee and plans to stake part of its holdings, although its performance depends on subsequent investor demand.

Institutional access has coincided with continued development of NEAR Intents, the network’s cross-chain transaction system. The platform resumed operations after an exploit on October 1, when a vulnerability involving its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure resulted in approximately $3.8 million in losses.

Polosukhin said the vulnerability had been fixed and affected users would receive compensation. The underlying NEAR blockchain and its native token were not compromised, according to his account.

NEAR price struggles despite Gemini’s latest listing

At the time of writing, NEAR was trading around $4.42, with approximately $500.6 million in daily trading volume and a market capitalization near $5.79 billion. The token had declined 7.37% over seven days and 12.05% over the previous month, while remaining substantially above its price before September’s rally.

The session’s trading range extended from $4.39 to $4.65, placing NEAR close to its daily low. The failure to maintain prices above $4.60 suggests buyers have yet to overcome the resistance encountered during the latest recovery attempts.

The token previously rallied above $5 in October, supported by renewed interest in its ecosystem and the appointment of Helius CEO Mert Mumtaz to the NEAR Foundation Council. However, subsequent trading has returned NEAR to the lower portion of its recent range.

Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe identified $4.60–$4.65 as the immediate obstacle, noting that the latest attempt to reclaim the area had failed. He said a confirmed breakout above $4.65 would improve the setup, while continued rejection could leave $3.95 and $3.40 as possible downside levels.

NEAR price analysis shows bearish momentum

Technical indicators remain cautious, with NEAR trading below the Keltner Channel midpoint at $4.776. The upper boundary stands near $5.664, while the lower channel at $3.887 provides another reference point if the correction continues.

The Aroon Oscillator has declined to −21.429, indicating that bearish trend pressure has overtaken bullish momentum. However, the reading remains relatively close to zero, suggesting that the negative trend has not yet developed into an especially strong directional move.

Immediate support lies between $4.30 and $4.40, followed by $4.00 and the lower Keltner boundary near $3.89. A sustained recovery above $4.776 would improve the technical structure and place $5.00 back within reach, with resistance extending toward $5.66.

Analyst Giannis Andreou described a separate weekly-chart recovery scenario involving a possible pullback toward $3.21 before another attempt to reclaim the longer-term descending trendline. The analyst identified $6 as an important area in that scenario, with higher targets remaining conditional on a successful breakout.

NEAR open interest remains elevated at $1.30 billion

Derivatives positioning remains substantial despite the recent price decline. According to CoinGlass data, NEAR futures open interest stood near $1.30 billion, down 0.39%, while trading volume declined 14.14% to approximately $1.35 billion.

Open interest had approached $1.9 billion during September’s advance before retreating as the token lost momentum. The relatively small latest decline indicates that outstanding positions have changed only modestly, although the data does not establish whether traders are predominantly holding leveraged longs or shorts.

A further decline below $4.30 could expose additional leveraged positions to losses, depending on liquidation levels and margin requirements. CoinGlass reported that total outstanding derivatives exposure remained around $1.30 billion despite NEAR trading well below its September highs.
