Samsung Hosts Galaxy Unpacked Event on the Decentraland Metaverse
Earlier this week, the South Korean-based mobile phones company Samsung hosted the ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ showcase on Decentraland. The technology entity leveraged the Ethereum based Decentraland to build a mini-city that gamifies exploring their city corner through mini-games with an immersive experience. The company live-streamed their event, unveiling their latest products, including new phones and tech developments.
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked Event on Decentraland
The tech giant’s much-awaited event, Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, was held virtually. The Samsung Galaxy tech launch move was received as a special event. For another reason, it will become the first tech manufacturing company to launch its new products in the metaverse.
Samsung had announced that the event would be held on February 9. It took place in the metaverse where users could join the launch event by visiting Samsung’s virtual-reality platform at Samsung 837X: Experience our groundbreaking metaverse.
Moreover, apart from metaverse, other sites the launch streamed live, including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, TikTok, and Reddit. Samsung also shared live updates from the launch on its official Twitter handle.
During the launch, there’s the theatre hall from which the big event is live-streamed with a box hidden behind the streaming screen. Moreover, there was the dancing disco arena with fitted jumping portals and decent music.
Samsung Makes Steps towards Blockchain Adoption
The event was a show on the part of Samsung that they have the skills to engage this potential new frontier while also making themselves look a bit cooler because it’s a direct interaction through a 3D medium. In attendance were nearly 2000 people on the Samsung city, with Decentraland able to handle the weight very well because they had no breakdown connection interruptions or weight load problems.
Based on this, there has been a notable upgrade compared to the other events a couple of months ago where the servers seemingly were falling under their weight. A mini redesign of the menu shows some changes, but the Ethereum metaverse can now handle the load.
It’s now known that Samsung is just the latest to travel there. Next month, a fashion show is coming with the shopping district under construction and waiting for its debut.
Samsung says their metaverse will feature “quests, NFT prizes, product reveal events, and live performances.”
It makes Decentraland very much the prototyping playground for a new 3D medium that can potentially be the latest stage or dimension in the evolution of digital tech. Several reports have been released about the tech giant launching three different variants of the next-generation Galaxy Tab at the event.
