SBF and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs are sharing a jail unit: report
Sean “Diddy” Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried, the former crypto executive, are now sharing the same jail housing unit at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
This news comes from sources and reported by NBC New York. Combs, a well-known music mogul, faces serious federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, according to NBC.Â
Bankman-Fried, once a prominent figure in the crypto industry, was arrested in the Bahamas and extradited to the U.S. in December 2022. He faces multiple charges, including campaign finance violations, money laundering, securities fraud, and wire fraud.
The unit housing the two holds around 18-20 inmates and includes high-profile defendants and cooperators—individuals who may require special protection. According to reports, this unit is distinct from the general jail population and provides a more controlled environment for inmates facing serious charges.
SBF’s unlikely roommate
Bankman-Fried was the CEO of FTX, a major cryptocurrency exchange, which collapsed last year due to allegations of financial mismanagement and fraud.
Meanwhile, Combs, arrested on September 16 at a Manhattan hotel, remains in custody as he awaits trial. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Reports indicate that Combs was denied bail last week, leading to his transfer to the same federal detention center as Bankman-Fried.
The Metropolitan Detention Center itself has a history of housing high-profile detainees, such as Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
