Bitcoin advocate Suarez quits US presidential race
Mayor of Miami and Bitcoin (BTC) proponent Francis Suarez has suspended his campaign for US President, becoming the first Republican candidate to withdraw.
Suarez announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), describing his run for US President as one of the greatest honors of his life.”
He stated that he would support the Republican party in putting forward a strong nominee for the race.
“While I have decided to suspend my campaign for President, my commitment to making this a better nation for every American remains.”

The Miami Mayor’s presidential campaign ends two months after it started. In June, Suarez announced his intention to run for the President of the United States, vying for the Republican ticket with other GOP contestants such as former US President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
However, the mayor failed to meet polling requirements by the Republican National Committee for the first primary debate. The former presidential candidate indicated he would drop out of the race if he failed to make the first GOP primary debate in Milwaukee.
Suarez, a long-time Bitcoin advocate, revealed recently that he would accept part of his salary in BTC if elected America’s President. The politician also receives his mayoral paycheck in Bitcoin.
Other Bitcoin proponents still in the US Presidential include Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has criticized President Joe Biden’s proposed crypto tax policy, and Florida governor DeSantis, who vowed to end the current administration’s war against Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
