LocalCoin Launches Bitcoin ATMs in Toronto at Gateway Newstands
Ontario-based company LocalCoin which specializes in bitcoin-related services announced on March 29 a partnership with Gateway Newstands, bringing a network of Bitcoin ATMs to Toronto’s subway.
Gateway Newstands is a chain of convenience stores and currently has more than 500 convenience stores, with the majority of them located on Toronto Subway lines operated by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Thus, it provides an extremely convenient and accessible location for LocalCoin bitcoin ATMs.
There are currently 50 ATMs located in Toronto. These ATMs are located at major hubs along the subway line such as Yonge and Bloor Station, Queens Park Station, Kennedy Station, Union Station, Scarborough Town Centre, Lansdowne and Finch GO Station. In the near future, there are plans to rapidly increase the number of Gateway Newsstands partnership ATMs across Canada and the United States.
LocalCoin is also the first and only bitcoin ATM network located along Toronto Subway lines, as they seek to ensure that the use of cryptocurrencies becomes a normalized part of the mainstream marketplace.
In a statement on Thursday, March 29, LocalCoin said:
“Having our ATMs located in easily accessible and safe environments has always been a priority for us – and it is with these principles in mind that we can officially announce that our ATMs can now be found at Gateway to Go locations in select TTC stations.”
